Bottled water vs Brita jug in Dubai.

So, VAT is bumming me out and I'm thinking of switching to a BRITA jug for my daily drinking water. And it's also reduces my use of plastic bottles, yay!

Has anyone here tried it or is currently using it? How does it compare to normal bottled water? Is it relatively safe to drink the water even after it's filtered by Brita?

P.S. Also, is anyone using one of those machines that can turn your water into sparkling water? I saw them on Virgin once and they were sold out by Festive. Would like to know if it's worth it.

Have been using one for about 2 years now. No issues so far. But the most important thing is the building you live in. The supplied water in dubai is generally safe and drinkable. But it depends on how clean the storage tanks in your building /home are. Thats where the highest chances for contamination are. So inquire with your building how often they clean the tanks, etc... then take a call.

My landlord installed an under sink water filter in kitchen with separate faucet; I like the taste of the filtered water, having grown up drinking tap water but the spouse prefers bottled water.

Thanks for the feedback. No weird reactions to the water? I'm so concerned about the water quality here that I think even if it's been filtered, it's not drinkable still.
