What is a Value-Added Tax - VAT
A value-added tax (VAT) is a type of consumption tax that is placed on a product whenever value is added at a stage of production and at the point of retail sale. The amount of VAT that the user pays is on the cost of the product, less any of the costs of materials used in the product that have already been taxed.

More than 160 countries around the world use value-added taxation; it is most common in the European Union. But it is not without controversy. Advocates say it raises government revenues without punishing success or wealth, as income taxes do; it is also simpler and more standardized than a traditional sales tax, and there are fewer compliance issues. Critics charge that a VAT is essentially a regressive tax that places an increased economic strain on lower-income taxpayers, and also adds bureaucratic burdens for businesses.

VAT on my Loan that i took 3yrs ago?

Hi can anyone advise me what to do? I was surprised to received my statement today from dunia. I had a loan with them since march 2015, for 36 months, my last payment was supposed to be this February, when i received my statement last dec my outstanding balance was 1770. Now when i received it its 1843.

I was shocked! How come my loan that i took from them was 3 years ago! And VAT was implemented this year! Its ridiculous! I was expecting to finish my loan next month and pay 843 only! What funny was their agent called me several times last december to convince me to top up my loan! And nobody bother to inform me to settle my loan because they will add a VAT!

Bad idea? Tax accountant come to Dubai?

I have been in and out of Dubai since July looking for work. I am a Canadian with a U.S. passport. I still have some work back in the States that will be finishing up very soon. I was a Tax Accountant in Texas for the last six years and have an MBA. Dubai is tax free. I do not have a CA.

I have had a few interviews and been in contact with many recruiters. However, nothing stuck and I didn't receive any (reasonable) offers. Most the recruiters contacted me for tax positions, the few their are. I have not had much luck hearing back from them; though all told me the interviews with both themselves and the companies were positive. I have since changed my CV to General Ledger Accountant rather than Tax Accountant.

So, any tips or advice on how to proceed from here? I have lots of other accounting experience so I have not been focusing on tax. If so, whom should i get in touch with? What steps do I take now that I feel I've eliminated many of the initial ones?

How many potential tax codes need to be set up in total for the six GCC countries included the Emirates within the UAE?

If one is using SAP you will need a lot of rates for all 6 countries and the same is true for Oracle, the difference is that with oracle there are not the same restrictions for the tax code length. We use a standard naming convention globally.

Should one exhibit an alternate VAT entirety when posting the expense of their things/benefits on an electronic business/voucher site?

If, despite everything that you don't show an alternate VAT total, the summary expense (or MRP) would be seen as far reaching of VAT and you should pay VAT on that expense. You can either determine an alternate VAT or should state that the expense is extensive of obligation.
